Today, we celebrate a new year. A new day. Another page on the calendar - the first in 2019. In many ways, it really is just another day... Having spent the last three days driving back and forth to the hospital where my sister and her adorable newborn triplets are, I have had a lot of time to think. It's really easy to let those thoughts turn negative. To get down on myself, or on life. To allow shame for things in the past to take over. It's also easy to make "resolutions" that I will be different this year. That I will do things differently. That I will change ____ bad habit. That I can do this. But the truth is that I can't. Because I am empty - and that is all I can bring, bowing down before God, and realize that HE is my victory. He is the reason we start every day over without shame. He is the reason a new page on the calendar is a fresh start. He is the reason we can be confident that we have already won this battle.
So, bring Him your empty heart - allow Him to pour into you. Find your victory in every season. Be steady in Him. And know that you aren't fighting alone, today, tomorrow, or any day.
