I've been doing this journal exercise for a while now. I generally fly through the I want question. The fear question has been coming easier. But so far the I surrender question is still a struggle. A big struggle. I haven't yet ripped the page out of my journal, but I have come pretty close. Surrender is hard. It's vulnerable. It's scary. It requires change.
"I surrender, I surrender... I want to know you more..."
What's funny is "I want to know God more" will end up on my I want list. But that part before it, the part where I have to give something up as out of my control? Not my favorite.
And yet, this week, as we celebrate Holy Week - we celebrate Jesus surrendering everything.
God make me so desperate for you that I find myself down on my knees, willing to surrender it all. Speak to me now, I want to know you more.
I want you to do in me all that you need to do, in order to do through me all that you want to do.
